Prosciutto Baguettes

This was fun and easy to make. It was absolutely delicious! My husband was pleasantly surprised. He originally didn't think that Swiss and prosciutto would go well together but oh yes. . . they do.

All you need is a loaf of baguette bread, evoo (Extra Virgin Olive Oil), basil, garlic, Swiss cheese, prosciutto and fresh tomato.

Slice the bread into slices 1/4 inch and 1/2 thick

Dice a few slices of tomato (not too big)

Toast the bread in 350*F oven until a little dry. NOT FOR LONG

Cut a piece of garlic in half and rub the bread once it is out of the oven. Rub it good and all over.  (bread likes that) If you have never given your bread a nice garlic rub down pay attention to the flavor. You will want to do that all of the time. The flavor is so good and not so strong.

Top with Swiss cheese, Prosciutto, basil leave, a piece of diced tomato.

Place the pan back into the oven. Don't leave in the oven longer than 2 minutes. You don't want to melt the cheese (just soften it) and you want to be careful with that fresh basil.

Remove from oven and drizzle with EVOO.

This will be a nice light appetizer that you can serve your guest or serve to your family while playing cards.

Sounds awesome, Jen. I have never had Prosciutto!! Is it hard to find?

Hi Darci! I found it at Meijer. Do you have a Whole Foods or Giant Eagle in your area? I'm sure that you can find it somewhere. Take a look in the deli dept. Let me know if you find it.
