VTP Tacos for the Vegan Family!

I can't believe this amazing dish!

It is completely guilt free with all of the delightful flavors of a real taco!

VTP Taco
  • 2 cups TVP (textured vegetable protein) I bought mine at Meijer in the Healthy Foods dept on the spice aisle
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (I use low sodium)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable broth (I added more to make sure it wasn't too dry)
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 1/4 cup salsa (I make my own)
  • whole wheat tortilla wraps (I buy from Sam's, loaded with fiber and very low in carbs)
In a large skillet, heat the water over medium heat, and add the TVP, stirring well.
Allow the TVP to reconstitute for 2-3 minutes.
Add broth and soy sauce, then taco seasoning, stirring well.
Allow to cook for another 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Mix in salsa and remove from heat.
Keep a close eye on this.
The VTP tends to dry out quicker when you use broth and not oil.
(You can use oil in place of the broth if you so choose.)
I served this to my family with all of the taco fixings.
It is delightful!
